Squigs Pens an Ethereal Take on the Supernatural World of Ghost

Broadway Ink 07/18/13

The touching tale of Ghost is coming to the Cincinnati stage. The national tour of the Broadway musical, based on the hit 1990 movie, will play the Procter & Gamble Hall at the Aronoff Center for the Arts from September 24 through October 6. The stage version of this romance uses high-tech scenery and illusions to tell the story of lovers Sam and Molly, who are torn apart when Sam is murdered as they walk home one night. When the ghostly Sam finds out Molly is in danger, he enlists the help of an eccentric psychic to communicate with her. During Ghost’s Broadway run, Broadway.com resident artist Justin "Squigs" Robertson penned a portrait of this epic musical. The artwork features original Broadway cast members Richard Fleeshman (Sam) and Caissie Levy (Molly) surrounded by Da’Vine Joy Randolph (Oda Mae Brown) and Bryce Pinkham (Carl). Check out this illustration, then make plans to see Ghost live!

About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
